The Shakira, also know as the Anaheim is a mildly hot green chilli. They can be recognized by their oblong, curved shape and green colour, with a mildly spicy and sweet taste. The pepper is comparable to the Spanish green chilli in terms of spiciness and taste, but the Shakira is a lot bigger, coarser and more robust. Due to the mild hotness and size of the pepper, it is a tasty product to fill and grill. The Shakira is originally an Arabic chilli and mostly used in the Turkish and North African cuisine. The chillies are juicy and have a slightly peppery taste. When cooked, roasted or grilled, the chillies get a more rich, sweet and spicy flavour.

It is best to store the fresh chillies in the refrigerator or in a cool dark place in a pantry, cellar cabinet, barn etc. The ideal temperature is between 10 °C and 13 °C, then the chillies stay the longest good, about 7 to 14 days. It is also possible to freeze the chillies, then you always have a supply of peppers. Click here for more information about freezing peppers or other ways to preserve them for a long time.

This product is grown in our greenhouses in the Netherlands and is available from March to November. This product is not available from November to March as it is not grown at our growers in Spain, Israel & Morocco.
