Here's how to make it

1
Finely chop 2 Shakira peppers and the garlic. Halve the red onion, finely chop one half, and slice the other half into thin rings.

2
Heat a splash of olive oil in a frying pan and sauté the garlic and the finely chopped half of the onion. Add ground beef and Shakira peppers. Cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is browned and crumbly. Stir in the canned cherry tomatoes and 3 teaspoons of Al Pastor seasoning. Let it simmer gently for about 10 minutes until you have a rich tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3
In a separate bowl, mix the red onion rings, 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar, and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Stir well and set aside.

4
Roll out the pizza dough and cut it into two equal parts. Fold the dough 1 cm inwards along the long sides. Roll the corners inwards until your dough forms a boat shape. Spread the filling over the dough, then sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Cut the remaining Shakira peppers into coarse rings and tuck them into the filling/cheese. Place the pides on a baking sheet with parchment paper, or on a pizza stone in the oven or BBQ. Depending on the type of dough you've used and your baking method, bake the pide until the bottom and crust are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

5
Halve the cherry tomatoes and finely chop the parsley. Serve your Turkish Pide with red onion rings, cherry tomatoes, and parsley.

Tip

1
You can make fresh pizza dough yourself, or if you're short on time, just grab some ready-made pizza dough.

2
No Shakira peppers available? Just swap them for Spanish green peppers.
