Description

The Lemon Habanero, also known as the Madame Jeanette, is a spicy and fruity pepper. The bright yellow pepper has a strong citrus-like smell and taste. Originally the pepper comes from South America and is, therefore, a well-known product in the Surinamese, Antillean and other South American cuisines. The pepper is often used to make sauces, but can actually be added to any dish for a fruity and spicy flavour.

The Lemon Habanero is closely related to the Habanero/Adjuma and is therefore sometimes confused with the yellow Habanero. The two varieties are very similar, but the difference is that the yellow Habanero pepper is spicier than the Lemon Habanero. And that the Lemon Habanero has a more fruity taste and strong citrus-like smell, hence the name Lemon Habanero.

Storage & shelf life
It is best to store the fresh chillies in the refrigerator or in a cool dark place in a pantry, cellar cabinet, barn etc. The ideal temperature is between 10 °C and 13 °C, then the chillies stay the longest good, about 7 to 14 days. It is also possible to freeze the chillies, then you always have a supply of peppers. Click here for more information about freezing chillies.

Country of origin
