The dried Trinidad Scorpion is an extremely hot dried pepper. It's known as one of the hottest peppers in the world, holding an impressive spot on the Scoville scale. It briefly held the title of the world's hottest pepper but was quickly surpassed by the Carolina Reaper and later Pepper X. We recommend being super careful when preparing this pepper, because even a tiny amount can make dishes or sauces incredibly spicy. Besides its extreme heat, the Trinidad Scorpion also has a fruity flavor, though it often gets lost in the spiciness.
What makes the Trinidad Scorpion extra special is that many of the peppers have a little point that looks like a scorpion's tail. And since the pepper originally comes from Trinidad, that's where it gets its name, Trinidad Scorpion.
Warning: Be careful when preparing and handling this extremely hot chili pepper! It's recommended to wear gloves when cutting or processing the peppers and to use them with care to prevent skin irritation and discomfort. Do you dare to take on the challenge?
Preparation
– First, toast the dried peppers in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes. This helps release their essential oils and brings out more flavor. Next, rehydrate the dried peppers with hot water. Let them soak in hot water for 15-20 minutes, then slice or chop them to your desired size.
– You can also grind the dried peppers into flakes or powder.

To keep dried chili peppers fresh for a long time, store them in an airtight container in your pantry or, even better, in the freezer. Avoid exposing them to air, moisture, light, and heat, as this can cause them to discolor, mold, and lose flavor.
Dried peppers last a long time, but for the best flavor and heat, try to use them within a year. Click here for more info on storing and freezing dried chili peppers.

We dry our Trinidad Scorpion peppers at our ‘s-Gravenzande location in a special drying cell. We mainly do this when we have enough of these peppers in stock. So, it's possible that this product might not be available for a longer period.
