The dried Carolina Reaper is the second hottest pepper in the world. For more than a decade, the chili pepper dominated the super hot world as the number one hottest chili pepper in the world. Until Pepper X took its place as the hottest chili pepper in the world in 2023. The Reaper was cultivated by American grower Ed Currie. The same grower also developed the Pepper X, which has now been officially named the hottest chili pepper in the world by the Guinness World Records.
Despite this shift, the Carolina Reaper remains a powerful super spicy pepper, beloved for its tremendous heat and fruity aromas. It produces an intense sensation that challenges even the most experienced chili pepper lovers. But don't let its spiciness fool you - behind the searing heat is a subtle fruitiness that tantalizes the taste buds and adds a layer to dishes. From hot sauces to rubs and marinades, this iconic pepper is a favorite ingredient for those seeking an intense flavor experience.
WARNING: Be careful when preparing and processing this extremely hot chili pepper! It is recommended to wear gloves when cutting or processing the chilies and use them with care to avoid skin irritation and discomfort. Do you dare to take on the challenge?
