The dried Trinidad Scorpion is an extremely hot dried pepper. It is known as one of the hottest peppers in the world, ranking impressively on the Scoville scale. It held the title of hottest pepper in the world for a short period of time, but was soon surpassed by the Carolina Reaper and later Pepper X. We recommend being very careful when preparing this pepper, as even a small amount can make dishes or sauces incredibly spicy. In addition to its extreme spiciness, the Trinidad Scorpion also has a fruity flavor, although it is often overwhelmed by the spiciness.
What makes the Trinidad Scorpion extra distinctive is that many of the peppers have a kind of scorpion tail-shaped tip. And originally the pepper comes from Trinidad, hence the name Trinidad Scorpion.
WARNING: Be careful when preparing and processing this extremely hot chili pepper! It is recommended to wear gloves when cutting or processing the chilies and use them with care to avoid skin irritation and discomfort. Do you dare to take on the challenge?
Preparation
- Fry the dried chilies in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes. This will release the essential oils and impart more flavor. Then soak the dried chilies with hot water. Soak them in hot water for 15/20 minutes and then cut/chop into desired size.
- Grind the dried chilies into flakes/flakes or powder.

To keep dried chilies good for a long time, store them in an airtight container in the pantry or even better, in the freezer. Avoid exposure to air, moisture, light and heat; this can cause the dried chilies to discolor, mold and diminish their flavor.
The dried chilies have a long shelf life, but for optimal flavor and spiciness, do not store them for more than a year. Click here for more information on storing and freezing dried chilies.

The Trinidad Scorpion peppers are dried at our location in 's-Gravenzande in a special drying cell. We do this mainly when we have enough of the chilies in stock. Therefore, this product may not be available for a longer period of time.
