Description

The Aji Charapita is also called the wild Peruvian chilli pepper. It is a very small, but spicy pepper, comparable in spiciness to a cayenne. The small Charapita’s have a powerful, fruity and citrus-like flavour, comparable to a yellow habanero, only less spicy. A well-known side dish with the Charapita is criolla, a mix of red onion, lemon juice, salt water, coriander and crushed Aji Charapita. They are also used as peppercorns in cooking.

In South America, a chilli pepper is added to a dish as standard. Many famous Aji peppers originate from South America and are known for their fruity and spicy flavour, as is this Aji Charapita.
