Description

Please note: The poblano peppers are currently smaller than what you’re used to from us. Please keep this in mind when ordering them. This means they’re less suitable for stuffing at the moment.
Due to the large amount of sunlight, the plants are currently producing more fruit. The plant itself regulates the balance between growth and fruit set, which can result in individual peppers being smaller. This is a natural process over which we, as growers, have no control.

The Poblano is a Mexican pepper with a mildly spicy kick. But thanks to its size, width, and subtle mild flavor, it's more like a bell pepper. Originally from the state of Puebla, Mexico, it's a well-known ingredient in Mexican cuisine.

It's often stuffed with delicious fillings and/or grilled. Take chilirellenos, for example, where the pepper is filled with cheese, meat, or veggies, then baked or fried. Plus, it's a key ingredient in mole sauces, which are super popular in Mexican cooking.

Dried chili peppers often have different names than their fresh counterparts because the drying process changes their flavor and texture. They're also often used in different ways in the kitchen. For example, this product is known by two names, Poblano & Ancho. The fresh version is called Poblano, and the dried version is Ancho.

Keep fresh Poblano peppers in the fridge or a cool, dark spot like a pantry, cellar, shed, etc. The ideal temperature is between 10°C and 13°C; this will keep the peppers fresh for the longest, about 7 to 14 days. You can also freeze the peppers. Click here for more info on freezing peppers or other ways to keep them fresh for a long time.

During the summer season (April-November), we grow these peppers right here in the Netherlands in our own greenhouses. Then, for the winter season (November-April), our awesome growers in Spain take over!

Poblano peppers are available year-round, but remember they're a natural product. So, sometimes, due to various circumstances, they might not be available or only in limited quantities.

fantastic peppers that were in perfect condition, not to mention lightning fast delivery, excellent!!!

  2. Pia (verified owner) –

Super fresh and excellent quality! They're great for freezing when cut into strips.

I've already ordered a larger quantity twice, and even in summer, with higher temperatures, they arrived super fresh and very quickly.

  3. Oleg Fomenko –

Really great quality. I can definitely recommend it.
