Description

Dried Tepin peppers, also known as Bird Chile or Chiltepin, are tiny spicy peppers. These Chiltepin peppers pack a powerful flavor with a hint of acidity. They come from Mexico, where their spiciness is described as 'Arrebato,' meaning quick or explosive. This is because the peppers are intensely hot, but the heat also fades quickly. Tepin peppers are widely used in Mexican cuisine, and you'll also find them added to stews, sauces, and soups in Spanish, Indian, and Asian cooking.

Preparation
– First, toast the dried peppers in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes. This helps release their essential oils and brings out more flavor. Next, rehydrate the dried peppers with hot water. Let them soak in hot water for 15-20 minutes, then slice or chop them to your desired size.
– You can also grind the dried peppers into flakes or powder.

Store them in the included jar in a spice drawer or pantry. For an even longer shelf life, pop them in the freezer! Make sure to keep them away from air, moisture, light, and heat, as these can make your dried peppers discolor, get moldy, and lose their amazing flavor. Click here for more info on storing and freezing dried chili peppers.

Your dried peppers will last a good while, but for the best flavor and heat, try to use them within a year.
