Description

Madame Jeanette box is a package containing some key ingredients from Raghenie Bhawanie's new cookbook. It is possible to buy the package with or without the "Madame Jeanette" cookbook. Please note that the cookbook is in Dutch.

The Madame Jeanette box consists of:
- The 'Madame Jeanette' cookbook by Raghenie Bhawanie (optional)
- 200g fresh Madame Jeanette chilies
- 200g fresh Spanish red chili peppers
- 30g chili flakes, in handy tin can

Eating Surinamese food heavy, difficult and time-consuming? Not if it's up to Raghenie. In Madame jeanette, she serves more than a hundred dishes, the vast majority of which star vegetables. Think noodles, pom, stew with the Hindustani spice mix masala, Surinamese brown beans with rice, chutney, sour and mango pie. That food with spice does not always have to be spicy she also explains in this cookbook, named after the aromatic pepper beloved throughout Suriname and far beyond.

To embrace Surinamese cuisine is to understand Surinamese cuisine; a melting pot with roots in Africa, Indonesia, India and China. In addition to recipes, Madame jeanette is packed with family stories, special encounters and an extensive account of a culinary study trip to Suriname. With photography that bursts from the pages and a good dose of humor, Raghenie offers a glimpse into traditional Surinamese cuisine and then gives it a modern twist with Dutch pearls such as beet, pointed cabbage and Brussels sprouts and with Surinamese vegetables such as long beans, sopropo and okra.

With this package, you can get started right away to easily prepare the delicious dishes from the book at home!

- Store fresh chilies in the refrigerator or a cool dark place in a pantry, basement cupboard, shed, etc. Ideal temperature is between 10°C and 13°C, that's when the peppers stay good the longest, about 7 to 14 days. It is also possible to freeze the peppers. Click here for more information on freezing peppers or other ways to keep them for a long time.

- Store the Chili Flakes in the provided jar in a spice drawer or pantry. See packaging for THT date. After the THT date, the quality of the product may deteriorate, but it usually still tastes good. Look, smell and taste after the date to see if it is still tasty.
