Ingredients Westlandpeppers

3 tomatillos

1 jalapeño

1 bottle of green jalapeño sauce

1 solo garlic


1 red onion

pepper, salt and lemon juice


1Order the traditional or deluxe Salsa Mexicana package with all the Westlandpeppers products. You can find this package in the Ready to cook category!

Fresh Salsa Mexicana

1Clean the tomatillos, jalapeño, garlic and onion and cut into (small) pieces. Mix everything together and season with pepper, salt en lime/lemon juice. Add a large dash of jalapeño sauce if you have the deluxe package. Leave the sauce in the fridge for a little while so all the flavours can mix well.

Smokey salsa verde

1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Roast the tomatillo, jalapeño, garlic and onion on a baking sheet in the oven. Do this for about 10 minutes, until they start to colour. Puree the roasted vegetables in a blender or with a food processor. Add a large dash of jalapeño sauce. Season with pepper, salt and lime/lemon juice. Leave the sauce in the fridge for a while so that the flavours can mix well.
