Achiote paste from El Yucateco is a flavourful spice mix popular in Mexican and Caribbean cuisines. It has a clay-like substance and is mild in spiciness, but is packed with flavour due to the addition of many different spices. Achiote paste is made from annatto seeds, herbs, spices and vinegar. The spice mix is easy to prepare and is perfect for seasoning beef, chicken, pork or fish.

Enjoy the flavour of Yucatan (southeast Mexico) with this special marinating paste. Traditionally used as a seasoning in dishes from Yucatan and Central America, mainly for dishes influenced by Mayan culture. The annatto in the paste gives the meat a nice red colour and also adds a kick of flavour.

Preparation: dilute 30g of paste with ½ cup of vinegar, orange juice or pineapple juice. A recipe is included with the pack.
