    Außer Peperoni und besonderen Paprikasorten hat Westlandpeppers momentan auch spezielle mexikanische Produkte im Sortiment. Wie Epazote ein in der mexikanischen Küche häufig verwendetes Kraut. Wir züchten Epazote - oder auf Deutsch „Wohlriechenden Gänsefuß“ - dieses Jahr in kleinem Maße. Es ist eine einjährige Pflanze, die in Mexiko heimisch ist. Diese Pflanze riecht stark und hat einen sehr typischen, geschätzten Geschmack. Epazote wird häufig in den unzählbar vielen mexikanischen Gerichten mit Bohnen verwendet. Im Grunde ist Epazote aber in allen mexikanischen Gerichten verwendbar. Der Geschmack von Epazote ist übrigens so stark, dass häufig nur wenig verwendet werden muss, um einem Gericht den typisch mexikanischen „Touch“ zu geben.

    The Mexican Oregano is an indispensable product in the Mexican cuisine. It's a different kind as the oregano that we often use in the kitchen. The Mexican Oregano has a much stronger taste. It does have the same Mediterranean flavour as the oregano we know, but the Mexican Oregano also contains flavours of citrus and liquorice. The oregano is delicious in Mexican / Latin American dishes, such as chili con carne and salsa. This product is sold per 20 gram in a plastic bag with a small amount of water. This keeps the leaves good during transport. If you can't use them fresh immediately, you can store the leaves in the refrigerator for another 5 days. You can also dry the leaves.

    Hoja Santa, Pepper leaf, Acuyo, Anisillo, Mexican Pepperleaf, Sacred pepper, Root beer Plant, these are all names for this very special product. Hoja Santa is a leaf that's widely used in the Latin-American kitchen. It's complex in taste and can have a diameter of 30cm. The flavours eucalyptus, anise, mint, nutmeg and tarragon can all be found in the fresh Hoja Santa. The leaf is perfect to make Tamales or Mole Verde with, but it can also be used as a spice to any dish. The product is sold per 2 leaves in a plastic bag with a small amount of water. This keeps the leaves strong during transport and maintains its distinctive flavour. If you can't use them fresh immediately, you can store the leaves in the refrigerator for another 5 days. You can also dry the leaf. This product is new at Westlandpepperss and therefore still under development, so it is possible that the leaf contains (small) holes.

    The fresh Moringa leaves come from the Moringa Oleifera tree. This tree grows mainly in tropical and subtropical areas but is now also grown in the Netherlands at our greenhouse! The Moringa is also known as a 'superfood' because of the high nutritional value and medicinal properties of the leaves. The leaves are full of vitamins, protein, iron, potassium and beta-carotene. The Moringa can be freshly processed in different dishes but is especially popular in healthy juices that you see a lot nowadays. Due to its high nutritional value and medicinal properties, the Moringa is a perfect ingredient for a detox or weight loss juice. This product is sold per 100 gram in a plastic bag with a small amount of water. This keeps the leaves good during transport.     The Okinawa Spinach is a special spinach variety. The leaves are half purple and half dark green. The leaves are rich in flavour and can be cooked like spinach, but are also a delicious addition to salads or juices. By eating the spinach raw or just cooked for a moment, the taste stays at it's best. A tip is to cook the leaves in rice, this gives the rice a purple/red colour!
